Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N8 was detected, for the first time in Zimbabwe, on 24 May 2017 at Larnark farm in Seke District, Mashonaland East Province. The farm is located about 30 kilometres south of the capital city, Harare, and belongs to vertically integrated poultry company, Irvine’s Zimbabwe PVT (LTD).
